I feel your pain. I quit three times. Every time I “hinched” and ended up smoking again. Right back at the level at which I’d left off. I’d never go back now — too expensive LOL
Best advice I ever had was from Robin Williams in a non-credited movie role (the movie is “Dead Again” if you’re interested — awesome film). He played a shrink who’d had his licence revoked. Kenneth Branagh's character was continually and, without noticing, putting a cigarette in his mouth then stopping, putting it back in the pack while confessing “I’m quitting.”
Robin William’s character tells him. “Stop ‘quitting.’ You’re either a smoker or you’re not. Decide which one you are and then BE that.”
Completely removed the stigma of being a quitter — that’s how I think of myself now. I’m a non-smoker and I don’t drink.
