“Hi, Megan” I agree. It’s hard though not to misread even close friends, especially when we’re trying to be sensitive to their mood and needs. And also, though I “get” the desire to “behold something lovely” and what’s lovelier than a smiling face, I agree it’s rude to assume the stranger you’re exhorting to “smile” actually wants to attract anyone.
